Among the various ceremonies and trophies in soccer, FIFA organizes an election for the team of the season (2024-2025). This is done in collaboration with FIFPo, the international players’ union. For the 2025 edition, unveiled on Monday, November 3, six Paris Saint-Germain players are among the nominees: Achraf Hakimi (26-year-old right back), Nuno Mendes (23-year-old left back), Marquinhos (31-year-old center back and captain), João Neves (21-year-old midfielder), Vitinha (25-year-old midfielder) and Ousmane Dembélé (26-year-old forward).

As always with such votes, there is plenty of room for debate about the choices and some regrets. Of course, we won’t spend hours on it, as we prefer to focus on the games rather than the always difficult player selections. And, often, they are difficult to understand in these ceremonies.
Here, it’s easy to understand why there is such a large presence of PSG players. But one might wonder where Willian Pacho (24-year-old defender), Fabian Ruiz (29-year-old midfielder), Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (24-year-old forward), and Désiré Doué (20-year-old midfielder/forward) are. All of them shone during a brilliant Champions League victory.
