Here’s our series. The 5 good reasons to watch a match. We’ll revisit the compelling aspects before each match with a mix of seriousness and humor. Please note, this isn’t meant to be an exhaustive overview. We continue here with the match between Paris Saint-Germain (1st) and Lens (2nd) this Wednesday at the Stade Bollaert, a rescheduled match from Matchday 29 of the 2025-2026 Ligue 1 season (kick-off at 9 pm, CET).
5 – Expected confirmations.
Ilya Zabarnyi (23-year-old defender), Dro Fernandez (18-year-old midfielder), and Senny Mayulu (19-year-old midfielder) impressed against Brest on Sunday evening (Matchday 33). They will undoubtedly play again, possibly as starters. We hope to see them perform well again, both for tonight’s match and for the future. We can also consider Renato Marin (the 19-year-old goalkeeper), although he might not be in the starting lineup.
4 – A “dress rehearsal” before the Champions League final?
We respect Paris FC, whom PSG will face this Sunday in Matchday 34 of Ligue 1, but Lens is on another level this season. It will be an intense match, with some excellent players to contend with. It looks like the final “tough test” to build rhythm and confidence before the Champions League final on May 30 against Arsenal. Even if the style of play will be different. Moreover, Lens will be thinking about their Coupe de France final on May 22 against Nice while playing this match.
3 – A formidable opponent.
As we just mentioned, they will be facing a strong team, with an attacking and intense style. Of course, we love PSG and we can’t complain about following them every day. But it’s always interesting to observe another top-level team, as well as other players. Perhaps with an idea for the Parisian transfer window.
2 – A “football party.”
These are the words of PSG coach Luis Enrique, and they sum up the evening perfectly. Two teams in form, playing at a high level of football, in a stadium where the atmosphere is always fantastic. We must make the most of this evening, especially since the season is almost over.
1 – The title, officially.
If PSG doesn’t lose, they will officially be champions. They’re practically already champions, even Lens admits it, given the Parisians’ 6-point, 15-goal lead. But it’s not quite a done deal yet; football can be unpredictable. A strong start from Lens could even inject some suspense. We expect the Parisians to try and win the title tonight, and in style at that.
