Luis Enrique, coach of Paris Saint-Germain (3rd), spoke at a press conference this Friday ahead of facing Toulouse (2nd) at the Stadium tomorrow (kick-off at 9:05 pm, broadcast on Ligue1+) as part of Matchday 3 of Ligue 1 2025-2026. On this occasion, the Spaniard also gave an interview to PSG TV. He discussed the Champions League league-phase draw for 2025-2026, the upcoming international break starting next week, and Saturday’s opponent.
Luis Enrique: “Teams don’t have the same schedule, it’s a bit strange.”
What do you think about the Champions League draw?
“I don’t know whether I should be honest or not (smiles). It’s difficult, with this new competition there are some tricky situations to manage. Teams don’t have the same schedule, it’s a bit strange. But at the same time, it’s the competition every team wants to win. We’re the defending champions, so it’s a big motivation to get started.”
Luis Enrique: “The most important thing for me is to give the players the mental rest they need.”
How do you approach the international break starting Monday?
“In my opinion, the most important thing for me is to give the players the mental rest they need when they come back. It will be another long season, with the World Cup as well. It’s very important to have both physical and mental recovery to face the challenges ahead. It’s tough, the schedule is very tight.”
Luis Enrique: “Everyone thinks they can defend better that way, I understand it.”
Is Toulouse more attacking than last year?
“Only if we’re leading and they have to change the result. We’re used to it, it’s been the same for two years now. Everyone thinks they can defend better that way, and I understand it. We’re used to facing low blocks. It will be away from home and difficult, but we’re happy to take on the challenge and we want to win.”
