After arriving at Paris Saint-Germain in 2023 from Benfica, 23-year-old striker Gonçalo Ramos went through a difficult period of adjustment, first with a lengthy illness, then with an injury in the first half of the 2024-2025 season. Although there has been some improvement since then, he has not fully established himself and rumours are mounting. On Thursday, L’Equipe reported that a departure was not out of the question, but was far from certain.
“The ex-Benfiquist is not in an ideal situation, but he hasn’t asked to leave. For their part, PSG would be willing to open the door in the event of an interesting offer, but his purchase price (€65m + €15m bonus) complicates the deal.”
Nothing impossible, nor very certain. The sports paper is not getting ahead of itself in this complicated matter. Ramos has great qualities, even if he finds it difficult to express them regularly at PSG. It’s worth pointing out, however, that his calls to free up others are often ignored by “specialists” and fans. And yet it’s important.
But we’d like to see him more “impactful”, more decisive. He needs to improve. Still, the potential is there, and replacing him would not be easy, with a top-class striker ready to be benched on the big Champions League nights, while Ousmane Dembélé (28) has established himself.
The Portuguese international doesn’t grumble and never stops working hard for the team, which is no mean feat. And it’s possible that he can still make progress in Paris. As for his effectiveness, a simple click could suffice, given that he has already scored a great deal in his career.
