Carlos Soler, the 28-year-old midfielder who arrived at Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2022 from Valencia with a contract running until 2027, failed to convince on the pitch and was loaned out to West Ham for the 2024-2025 season. He has now returned to Paris, with a solution to be found for the future. L’Equipe confirms the rumours of recent hours, with interest from Villarreal (5th in La Liga) and Brighton (8th in the Premier League).
“Villarreal have begun talks to bring in the 28-year-old Spanish international (14 caps, 4 goals), exploring two options: a loan deal with an option to buy, and a permanent transfer. To a lesser extent, Brighton have also shown an interest in recent weeks.”
Careful, there are no certainties until official confirmations are made. But it’s interesting to see several media outlets moving in the same direction in a short space of time. This doesn’t guarantee a breakthrough, of course. But it does give us hope for a real negotiation. Which could lead to an agreement.
Soler has had his difficulties at PSG, and a little irregularity at West Ham, but he has some fine qualities. A return to La Liga, where he shone with Valencia, could be a great idea. Especially as he would be reunited with Marcelino, the Villarreal coach he worked alongside at the Spanish club.
