Pedro Fernandez Sarmiento, often called Dro Fernandez, was linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain this winter. The 18-year-old midfielder doesn’t want to extend his contract with FC Barcelona, which expires in 2027, and has a €6 million release clause that PSG are keen to trigger. Journalist Fabrizio Romano now claims that Paris has made significant progress towards signing him.
This journalist is generally reliable, so we can assume that PSG has indeed made significant progress in order to take advantage of this excellent opportunity. Dro Fernandez is a very versatile attacking midfielder (he can also play on the wings, as well as in a false nine role) and fits perfectly with coach Luis Enrique’s style.
This, combined with immense potential to refine and establish himself at the highest level, makes sense given his desire to leave and such a low release clause, as it makes sense that Paris Saint-Germain would try to seize the opportunity. Especially since the season has shown that an additional player to bolster the squad could be beneficial for PSG. The fact that he shares the same agent as the PSG coach could also facilitate negotiations.
