Having arrived in the summer transfer window in July 2023 from Mallorca, Lee Kang-In, a 25-year-old South Korean midfielder/winger, is under contract with Paris Saint-Germain until June 2028. Having been more of a backup player in recent months, he has attracted the attention of transfer rumors in recent weeks, notably with interest from Atlético Madrid. There has also been talk of a contract extension. Today, journalist Romain Collet Gaudin claims that the transfer could be finalized and specifies the fee.
At €30 million + bonuses, PSG could finalize Kang-In Lee’s departure to Atlético Madrid.
Agreement in principle between Atlético Madrid and the South Korean player’s representatives”
The bonus is not specified, even though it is a significant factor given the potential for variation. But we suspect it wouldn’t be to double the amount paid to PSG. We can more likely expect it to be around €35 million in total, perhaps €40 million. Which is quite plausible given the player’s situation. After a €22 million purchase, Paris would be doing quite well.
We remain cautious, however; nothing is official. The transfer isn’t a done deal, and the exact amount is even less certain. Nevertheless, it’s a departure being discussed by several media outlets, and this journalist is generally reliable, so there’s reason to believe it’s indeed taking shape.
