Presnel Kimpembe, the 29-year-old Paris Saint-Germain central defender whose contract expires in June 2026, has a future that remains unclear, even though he has returned to competitive action this season after two years without playing. Le Parisien announced this Tuesday that he has made a clear choice of PSG.
“With the next season starting soon, the Parisian number 3 is not part of Luis Enrique’s plans. He is even one of the players for whom the club has very clearly opened the door to a departure.
Parisian management wants to move forward with the player’s agreement to find a solution that would satisfy everyone. The objective is quite clear: to find a sporting project in which Kimpembe, under contract until 2026, would be able to regain rhythm, intensity, and excitement in a fulfilling environment.
Meetings should follow quickly to clarify his future. Whether he stays or leaves PSG in a few days, Kimpembe has already made his mark on the club’s history by winning 20 trophies, including eight French league titles and one European championship title.”
We could have had some doubts, but this is a huge step forward for PSG and Kimpembe. The defender, who trained in Paris, is a child of the club, where he has spent his entire professional career so far. He’s experienced it all, including winning the Champions League last season.
Except there’s also this terrible period of injury that’s keeping him from his best. It seems very difficult to make up for lost time, and we’ve seen him still have some physical problems since his return. A move would therefore make sense.
Kimpe has one year left on his contract; it’s time to make a decision. The defender may not play much longer; it would be more advantageous from a sporting perspective to change clubs in order to try to regain an important role.
Be careful, however, nothing has been decided yet. This is just a rumor. The youngster may also have in mind to show this August that he still has a say at PSG. Which should listen to its iconic defender.
