Ibrahim Mbaye, an 18-year-old forward developed at Paris Saint-Germain and under professional contract until 2028, has carved out a small role in the first-team squad but has yet to secure regular playing time. There has been talk of either a contract extension or a transfer. According to Bild, Borussia Dortmund has set its sights on the PSG academy product, who is valued at €30 million.
“According to BILD, PSG wants to sell the winger this summer, as he is struggling to break into the lineup ahead of stars like Désiré Doué (21), Bradley Barcola (23), and Ousmane Dembélé (29)—a Ballon d’Or contender—at the European champion club.
The Senegalese player, who featured in four matches for his country during the World Cup, is valued at €30 million. He would be the ideal replacement for Adeyemi.”
It is certainly plausible; several media outlets have linked Mbaye with a move since the transfer window opened, and a switch to Dortmund would make sense. It is an excellent club known for trusting young talent, playing in a league accustomed to recruiting players from France—a factor that appeals to young players, as it suggests they will be given a chance to prove themselves.
Following Karim Adeyemi’s departure to FC Barcelona, Dortmund is expected to look for a replacement forward. If they are seeking a similar profile, Mbaye fits the bill. However, PSG also recognizes their forward’s potential; he is only 18 and isn’t necessarily being pushed out. Talk of his impatience is merely speculation, given that he did see playing time last season—enough to earn a spot in the Senegal national team. Nothing has been decided regarding the future of the Parisian academy product; let the discussions and deliberations yield something concrete. Mbaye could stay at Paris or leave for another club.
