Gabriel Moscardo, a 20-year-old defender/midfielder who joined Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2024 from Corinthians (following a loan spell that began the previous winter), was loaned to Stade de Reims for the 2024-2025 season. A decision now needs to be made regarding his future, given that his contract runs until 2028. L’Équipe confirmed this Saturday the rumored move to Espanyol Barcelona.
“Gabriel Moscardo will not be returning to PSG this summer. An agreement has been reached between the Parisian club and Espanyol Barcelona for a new one-year loan of the Brazilian midfielder (20), with no option to buy.”
Several media outlets and journalists have reported on Moscardo’s move to the team finishing 11th in La Liga; one can hope this indicates that negotiations are well advanced. It is a great destination for the Brazilian to gain experience and showcase his talent.
Meanwhile, the club stands to gain a valuable reinforcement at a low cost. Moscardo might even end up playing for PSG after this season, though that is far from guaranteed. In fact, the loan itself is not yet a certainty, though it does seem likely.
