Paris Saint-Germain is set to see the departure of Martin James soon. According to German journalist Florian Plettenberg, the 18-year-old goalkeeper is joining FC Cologne; he is scheduled for a medical examination on Friday ahead of the expected signing of a contract running until 2028.
The deal appears to be well advanced, although the successful completion of the medical and official announcements from both clubs are still required for it to be considered fully finalized. At Cologne, Martin James is expected to join the professional squad hierarchy as the third-choice goalkeeper.
This move offers a clearer career path than the one available at PSG, where competition for his position is fierce. The Parisian club is thus poised to lose a promising talent from its 2008-born cohort—a player who had already been called up to Luis Enrique’s squad last season.
