Ilya Zabarnyi, the 22-year-old central defender from Bournemouth (contract runs until 2028) and Ukraine, has been announced as a defensive priority for Paris Saint-Germain this mercato. Journalist Romain Collet Gaudin reports today that the agreement for the transfer to PSG is close.
“Zabarnyi and PSG, agreement very close!
Bournemouth’s Ukrainian defender is set to sign for PSG after the Club World Cup.”
This journalist is generally reliable, so we can hope that this transfer will indeed take place during the mercato. We remain cautious, however, as nothing has yet been officially confirmed. We know that the mercato can move very quickly and surprise, with the media sometimes being too assertive too quickly.
Nevertheless, we’re hopeful that Zabarnyi will be an important addition for PSG, given her interesting profile. Young, full of potential, aggressive, at ease with the ball, strong in aerial duels… there’s every reason to hope he’ll make his mark in Paris. Which, incidentally, is what makes him want to. However, nothing is certain yet. Let’s remain cautious.
As a reminder, the price was mentioned in the press at 70 million euros, while PSG reportedly offered 50 million.
