Luis Enrique, head coach of Paris Saint-Germain since the summer of 2023, arrived in the French capital on a two-year contract before extending his stay until 2027. As time goes on, the question of the future is gradually coming back into focus. According to AS, PSG’s intentions are already clear and firm.
“A lifetime contract”
“The bond between PSG and Luis Enrique is such that in Paris — or rather in Doha — a lifetime contract for the coach is already being considered, even though he still has one year left on his current deal. PSG believes it has found the ideal coach and therefore wants to secure his long-term presence at the helm of the team. This partnership appears to be built to last.”
If this were to be confirmed, it would indeed be something very strong and symbolic. However, it’s reasonable to think that the Spanish outlet may be exaggerating somewhat, as is often the case in the media. Still, one element does make sense: PSG’s clear desire to keep Luis Enrique. That would be logical given the progress made since his arrival. Everyone knows that one day he will eventually leave, but that moment can wait.
It would be interesting to see the Parisian project continue over the long term, as has been the case at other major clubs. A defining era could be taking shape in the club’s history. For now, though, caution remains necessary. Nothing is settled, and football has a way of moving very quickly.
