Despite signing an extension with Paris Saint-Germain in May 2023 until 2028, Marquinhos, the 31-year-old central defender and captain, is still the subject of rumors of departure during the mercato. L’Equipe assures us this Thursday that the Brazilian has made his choice.
“Marquinhos has made up his mind. After a period of reflection, while he may have entertained doubts about a possible end to his career, and while he has been the subject of opulent approaches (notably from the Gulf), the Brazilian defender (31) has decided to stay at PSG.
“Marqui” also knows that he will have to face greater competition in his position, with the planned recruitment of a right winger who is expected to be Ukrainian Ilya Zabarni (22, Bournemouth).”
A credible assertion, there was in fact no particular idea of a departure apart from a few rumours. These were mainly from the sports press, by the way. So this may well be the end, without a huge surprise. But at least we should have some peace and quiet around captain Marquinhos. Even if you know the media, new stirrings can quickly arise.
