Having arrived from Mallorca during the summer transfer window in July 2023, Lee Kang-In, a 24-year-old South Korean midfielder/winger, is under contract with Paris Saint-Germain until June 2028. Today, however, journalist Matteo Moretto (Relevo) asserts that PSG is far from opening the door to a transfer.
“Paris Saint-Germain considers Kang-in Lee an important player, and it’s not certain he would be allowed to leave.
As we have indicated, the French club wants to extend his contract.”
For the past year, rumors have been rife surrounding Lee. But there was never any confirmation, and before his injury in December, he had become an increasingly important player for PSG. He doesn’t seem surplus to requirements in a relatively tight squad, and a departure this winter would be a major surprise. An extension seems more sensible, although it’s not a done deal either.
It could all depend on the coming months, with the competition and emerging opportunities. Football moves quickly, and it’s difficult to predict the summer transfer window. Discussions and deliberations need to take place, not to mention the matches. And then there’s Lee’s importance to the club’s development in Asia. It’s not necessarily something everyone appreciates, but he can be a significant player.
