Having arrived in the 2022 summer transfer window, 27-year-old central defender/full-back Nordi Mukiele has failed to establish himself at Paris Saint-Germain. Hampered by injuries, especially in 2023, and rarely used by coach Luis Enrique, he was loaned to Bayer Leverkusen without an option to buy for the 2024-2025 season, although his contract expires in June 2027. While he has returned, his future is still being awaited. According to several journalists and media outlets, he is very close to signing for Sunderland (Premier League).
Fabrice Hawkins (RMC Sport):
“EXCL: Agreement in principle between PSG and Sunderland for Nordi Mukiele. The defender has been given permission to travel.”

Several generally reliable media outlets and journalists have quickly agreed on a case that has otherwise received little media attention, which is certainly no coincidence. It would be a bit of a surprise, given how little has been said about Mukiele recently. But it’s an interesting prospect for this athletic defender, with a prestigious league that could suit him.
As for PSG, it’s always positive to succeed in parting ways with a player who isn’t in the coach’s plans. We’re still waiting for certainties and details, but the time has finally come for optimism regarding the Mukiele case.
