Ilya Zabarnyi, the 22-year-old central defender from Bournemouth (contract until 2028) and Ukraine, has been announced as a defensive priority for Paris Saint-Germain this mercato. Journalist Fabrizio Romano confirms this Sunday that PSG are making progress, adding that there is another lead.
Relatively credible claims. At least, that’s been the trend in recent hours. And Zabarnyi has the profile to fit into the PSG project, with great defensive qualities, as well as possession of the ball. Not to mention a certain “personality” in the game that coach Luis Enrique appreciates.
He would be a good candidate to be an understudy/competitor to Marquinhos (31), with the hope of fully establishing himself over the years. However, there’s nothing concrete yet, and negotiations seem difficult at the moment. There has been talk of a very high price tag (around 70 million euros), while Bournemouth are reportedly keen on a second central defensive sale after Dean Huijsen.
