Since 2011, RFI and France 24 have been awarding the Marc-Vivien Foé prize to the best African player in Ligue 1 who has played at least 15 league games this season. The trophy will be awarded by a jury of 100 journalists specializing in French and African soccer, from all media (radio, television, print and internet). Among the 11 nominees for the 2025 edition was a Paris Saint-Germain player: Achraf Hakimi, 26-year-old right-back. He won the award.
It was a fine victory for Hakimi, who won the trophy for the first time and thus made his mark on PSG’s history. Of course, it’s only an honorary title, something less important than team victories. But it’s satisfying nonetheless, and a reward for all the hard work. We can only congratulate the Moroccan full-back, and coach Luis Enrique’s efforts to help him progress.
