Paris Saint-Germain head coach Luis Enrique (1st) spoke at a press conference this Friday ahead of tomorrow’s match against Vendée Fontenay (National 3, fifth tier) at the Stade de la Beaujoire (kick-off at 9 p.m., CET) as part of the 2025–2026 Coupe de France Round of 32. On the sidelines of the event, the Spaniard also spoke to PSG TV.
Luis Enrique: “These are the club’s values”
On fatigue
“It’s tough, but we travel in the best possible conditions. It’s incredible!”
An incredible year in 2025 – what does it say about the team’s identity?
“I think that every time, this team shows all its qualities. Resilience, the strength to overcome problems. These are the club’s values, and our supporters appreciate that in a very positive way. This year reflects that. Results are the consequence of different aspects within a match.
It’s great to see a team with this mentality. We’re happy and tired. But tomorrow we start the Coupe de France. We’ve won the last two, but it’s a different competition. We need to rest and enjoy ourselves to finish this incredible year in the best possible way.”
Luis Enrique: “I want to enjoy the present”
What emotions will remain from 2025?
“To be honest, I don’t think much about what we’ve achieved or what we’ve done. I want to enjoy the present — today’s training session and tomorrow’s match. But it’s incredible. When I walk around Paris, everyone says thank you to me! But they shouldn’t! (smiles)
It’s my job. I’m happy to represent a club of this stature and to be in football. We have to keep moving forward on our path. What we’ve experienced is beautiful — an unforgettable year. But we must stay focused on the present and enjoy the moment.”
Luis Enrique: “They are all incredible”
Will Marin and Boly start tomorrow?
“Maybe! There’s training today and we’ll see tomorrow.”
The supporters?
“They are incredible, all of them. What we experienced this year is magnificent. Now we have to think about the future. The best is yet to come.”
