Warren Zaïre-Emery, the 19-year-old Paris Saint-Germain midfielder called up to the French national team for the international break, spoke to Téléfoot about his much-criticized club teammate Randal Kolo Muani, 24. He was keen to point out that he was a good player.
Zaire Emery “When he comes with Les Bleus, he’s happy and content”.
“When he comes with Les Bleus, he’s happy and content. At the club, he works, he does things every day. I think people are pretty hard on him because, frankly, he’s a good player. And we see that every time we play for the French national team.”
It’s hard to imagine Warren saying anything bad about one of his team-mates, given his proven humility. However, his team-mate in blue and with Paris Saint-Germain is in great difficulty. At club level, he doesn’t play much, doesn’t score when he has the chance and has a huge lack of confidence.
It’s true that it’s not very constructive to discourage a player who’s struggling, but the demands of the Parisian club are such that it’s hard not to say something when the player’s controls and choices are in difficulty. And yet, with a little more confidence, he could be very useful in this second half of the season, which is shaping up to be very complicated.
