Marco Asensio, Paris Saint-Germain’s 28-year-old midfielder/attacker under contract until 2026, has been struggling of late and has been rather sidelined by coach Luis Enrique. So the idea of a mercato departure is taking hold. Matteo Moretto insists that Jorge Mendes is looking for a way out for the Spaniard. Aston Villa are said to be lining up, and the player would have no preference other than to play.
“Jorge Mendes is activating his networks for Asensio this winter!
He’s been pushing for the player in Italy, England and Turkey!
Aston Villa are studying the viability of a deal with PSG.
The player has no preferred destination, he just wants to play!
Matteo Moretto.”
The player clearly no longer fits into Luis Enrique’s plans. The Spanish coach has shown confidence in him since his arrival, but the player has continued to disappoint. It would therefore be entirely logical to see him leave the club, with no regrets on either side.
Luis Enrique has a knack for putting emotional considerations aside in favor of the collective interest. It’s out of the question for the Spanish coach to depend on any one player. That’s why he’s able to make the right decisions, and why there’s no longer any risk of ending up with a bunch of players chained to the club.
