Marco Asensio, Paris Saint-Germain’s 29-year-old midfielder/attacker under contract until 2026, has been struggling of late and has been rather sidelined by coach Luis Enrique. So the idea of a mercato departure is taking hold. La SER reports that PSG and Aston Villa have reached agreement on a loan deal for the player until the end of the season.
PSG no longer bother with players they no longer want. Don’t get me wrong, Asensio hasn’t proved anything at PSG, and he doesn’t even have the playing time to try. A departure would free up a place for a youngster, and perhaps in the long term, a sale would free up a large salary for a player who doesn’t fit into the plans anyway. Paris is already preparing for the summer mercato with these departures, no doubt with the idea of recruiting in specific positions to improve the team.
