On Wednesday evening, the magic of the Coupe de France was at work once again, as N2 club Stade Briochin took on Paris Saint-Germain in the quarter-finals. Despite an exceptional run, the Bretons were unable to match the capital club’s outrageous domination of France and Europe in 2025. Their adventure came to a screeching halt with a score of 0-7 (video highlights Stade Briochin/PSG). Guillaume Allanou, president of the amateur club, spoke to beIN SPORTS about this great achievement:
Allanou: “That Paris was much too strong, and we’ll be the first to support them.”
How did you feel about the match?
Fine, because we knew what to expect. We drew with Brest. Unfortunately, Paris Saint-Germain are unplayable at the moment. I’m happy because the boys gave it their all, and this is the reward for all their hard work. I regret the first goal and the third at the very start of the 2nd half. That Paris team was far too strong. Well done to them, and we’ll be the first to support them.
Do you have any regrets, particularly with your forwards who didn’t go deep enough?
Yes, especially in transition situations. The two of them were always on the ball, and it was very easy for PSG to defend by moving forward. I would have liked to have seen more running. We had one or two sequences that made me regret a little. We would have liked to have scored.
Are you watching the stopwatch for the first goal?
Yes, I told the staff that we’d lasted 15 minutes. I should have told my players to hold out for 45 or 90.
After this defeat, the coach is in danger President?
If all the coaches who lose to PSG are in danger, there’ll be a lot of unemployed.
