Marquinhos, 30-year-old central defender and captain of Paris Saint-Germain, spoke to beIN SPORTS after the 1-0 victory over Angers (video highlights PSG/Angers) on Saturday at the Parc des Princes as part of Matchday 28 of Ligue 1 2024-2025. He talked about the title, his status as the most successful player and the Champions League.

Marquinhos “You have to take it, it’s the work of a whole season.”

You’re the player with the most titles in this championship.

It’s crazy, it’s crazy. I’m very happy, I think it’s great to stay with a top team. It’s a challenge and it’s something exceptional for me. The titles that come with it will go down in history.

More and more, my ambition is to win everything, and the French championship is part of that, because it’s just too much fun. It’s already happened to me twice not to have it and that hurts. You have to take it, it’s the work of a whole season. It’s all about consistency and the team deserves it.

Marquinhos: “It’s the DNA of giving everything on the pitch.”

What’s so special about this team this season?

It’s the DNA, it’s the DNA of giving everything on the pitch. Our philosophy is always to be aggressive and to give everything we’ve got in every game, no matter how difficult it is or who our opponents are. Away from home in the Champions League, in the league or in the French Cup, that’s what the fans want.

Ever since I was a kid, I’ve played for teams with that kind of DNA, and it’s great when the fans are happy for the team, because that’s the work that’s done on the pitch.

Marquinhos “It’s a very exciting end to the season with some great things to come and play for.”

What are you going to say to your team-mates when you’re not there against Aston Villa?

I’m not here, but I’m here. We’re here all week and we’re going to prepare well. It’s the best way to come up against this great Aston Villa team with three wins. It’s a very exciting end to the season with some great things to come and play for.

We’re going to stick to our philosophy and mentality. The coach is very good about that, he pushes us when we win and when we lose. We’re going to prepare well.
