Paris Saint-Germain won 2-1 against Le Havre (video highlights PSG/Le Havre) this Saturday at the Parc des Princes on Matchday 30 of Ligue 1 2024-2025. After the match, Paris coach Luis Enrique spoke to beIN SPORTS. He expressed great satisfaction, even if there’s always room for improvement.
Luis Enrique “It was a match that required tranquillity and concentration.”
Are you satisfied with your players’ performance in terms of motivation?
I have to say I’m very satisfied. Because I made a lot of substitutions, a lot of players who weren’t on the pitch. It was a match that required calm and concentration, and the players did very well right from the start.
We had a very impressive rhythm. I’m very happy, because I know what kind of match it is after the Champions League, and it’s up to the opponent to give everything, so I congratulate my players.
The changes made during the course of the match, but above all the position changes made by the players in the same match, mean that they’ve integrated everything…
Yes, no doubt, it speaks to the intelligence of the players. We’ve seen players change, playing in different positions from right to left and so on. They’re very versatile and intelligent players, so you don’t need to make changes to change things in a match.
Luis Enrique “you have to be a good striker and a very good defender too.”
The players’ state of mind is incredible, especially Barcola who goes down very low to defend?
If you want to be an indispensable player for a team, you have to be a good striker and a very good defender too. It’s a sport that brings trophies in both directions, and in that sense I saw some quality
Obviously, I think we can improve, but Bradley played well, and Gonçalo played very well too. We saw a number of players who were able to understand what needed to be done. These are players who want to improve, and that’s great.
Luis Enrique “that’s all the adrenalin I wanted to pass on to this team.”
You’ve worked on it during the week, and a group that responds well to what you’re asking for tells me all about it.
When we have a group, the coaches look for a minimum. But it’s a team that wants to improve. So that the things that come naturally, that they can find a space that come on the field. Constantly.
Even in a match like this, you’re always paying attention to detail?
Why do you think that is? It’s not to motivate them for Aston Villa, even my grandmother could do that, but a match like that which has no motivation apart from the record we’re also looking for, that’s a lot harder. That’s what I want and that’s all the adrenalin I wanted to pass on to this team.
