A few weeks ahead of the Champions League final between Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan, Stéphane Dalmat (former midfielder, aged 45), who has played for both clubs, gave a frank analysis in Le Parisien. Dalmat backs Inter, but highlights the Nerazzurri’s collective strength and experience, while acknowledging PSG’s attacking strengths and the unpredictability of their forwards.
Dalmat “It’s a complete team at every level”.
“Inter’s main strength ?
It’s his group spirit. There’s no ‘fuoriclasse’, there’s no one player superior to another. Of course, there’s a lot of talk about Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram, but it’s the collective that takes precedence. It’s thanks to this strength that Inter are where they are today. Defensively, until the Barça match, they were the best team in Europe.
They’re a complete team at every level, with a lot of experience and a lot of players over 30. This is the year or never to win the Champions League.
Dalmat “Inter are complicated to manoeuvre”.
PSG’s strengths ?
Unlike Barcelona, where Yamal monopolized attention, Paris has more diversity up front. This team seems to me to be more unpredictable. Danger can come from anywhere. I think Ousmane Dembélé can pose them problems.
But Bayern and Barça have all fallen by the wayside. Inter are a tricky team. They’re capable of defending well and massacring their opponents on the counter.
It’s not going to be a match, but a great match. Inter Milan are a solid, close-knit team, capable of overturning mountains. As for PSG, everything seems to be going swimmingly this season, and we need to keep it that way for another 90 to 120 minutes.
Paris must not let this opportunity slip through their fingers, and anything is possible in one match, even if there’s nothing easy about inscribing your name on a club’s most prestigious trophy. PSG will need every player ready to put their name to the Cup with the big ears.
