PSG were strong, confirming their domination and celebrating their title, while Auxerre simply finished their season in mid-table, a source of satisfaction for the promoted side.

Behind them, Olympique de Marseille defended their 2nd place well against a Rennes side also lacking in stakes. Monaco, swept aside by Lens 4-0. With a red card, of course. But the gap was terrible. It was even worse for Brest, who were thrashed 6-0 by Nice in a bid to secure their place in the Champions League.

Lille couldn’t keep up with this string of goals, despite beating Reims, and will therefore be going to the Europa League. It’s not all bad, even if there may be some disappointment.

At the other end of the table, Lyon are doing very well to book their place in the Europa League. This was thanks to a deserved 2-0 win over Angers, but also to Strasbourg’s last-minute penalty at Le Havre. The penalty cruelly dropped Strasbourg to 7th place, but also enabled Le Havre to maintain their position, putting Reims in the play-off position. Saint-Etienne lost at Toulouse, and so are not equally disgusted by the last-minute goal, but are down in Ligue 2 with Montpellier.
