On Saturday evening, Paris Saint-Germain played host to AJ Auxerre in their final Ligue 1 match of the season. And despite the AJA opening the scoring, it was the Rouge et Bleu who came out on top, 3-1 (PSG/Auxerre video highlights). Elisha Owusu, a midfielder with the young Auxerre team, spoke to DAZN about the defeat and PSG’s superiority:
Elisha Owusu: “We wish them all the best for the Champions League”.
Was it too hard to contain PSG?
Yes, it was pretty complicated, but we started the game really well and stuck to the coach’s plan. Unfortunately, we know we’re playing against a very, very big Paris team. They’ve got some very good players, and the players who came on contributed a lot. We knew it was going to be complicated. But we’re not ashamed of our game, that’s just the way it is.
How do you feel when you come up against a team like that, perhaps the strongest in Europe?
You want to do well, you want to get up to scratch. Frankly, they’re a very, very big team, and they put in a lot of intensity. They know each other and play a fluid game, and we wish them all the best for the upcoming Champions League.
