Paris Saint-Germain and Reims faced off this Saturday at the Stade de France in the final of the Coupe de France 2024-2025. The match ended in a 3-0 Parisian victory (video highlights PSG/Reims). After the match, Reims coach Samba Diawara spoke at a press conference. He underlined the superiority of the Parisians, with words for next Saturday’s Champions League final against Inter Milan.
Diawara “everyone had to be at their best”.
Too big a gap ?
Some players were once again not up to scratch, while others held their own. But to get a result, or at least make them doubt, everyone had to be at their best. But that wasn’t the case. But that’s understandable, given the effort we put in against Metz.
After that, I can ask myself whether everyone played the final as they should have. Now we’ve got a crucial deadline to prepare for. At least we didn’t take a red.
Diawara “They have all the weapons to bring this title back to Paris.”
Are PSG ready for the LDC final ?
Above all, I want them to win it, of course. I thought they were far superior to us, but the opposition will put up a different kind of resistance. There’s so much quality and variety in what they offer, they react immediately to problems.
If we defend with 4 men, they’ll attack with a line of 5. If we defend with 5, they’ll attack with a line of 6. There are players who come from behind. Inter should be at 5, they have solutions. They have all the weapons to bring this title back to Paris.
Diawara “We’re not boxing in the same category”.
What did you say to your players at the end ?
To lift their heads. They haven’t given up, they mustn’t be sad. There were 20,000 of them. We’re going to need these moments on Thursday. You have to hold your head high, they did their utmost. They have nothing to be ashamed of, even if it was a heavy defeat.
Is this final a good rehearsal before the play-off? Was it hard to lose 3-0 ?
It’s always difficult to lose when you’re a competitor, but we knew there was a big gap between the two teams. Maybe without the play-offs it could have been different. I’m realistic about the quality of our opponents. We’re not boxing in the same category.
