Lucas Hernandez, Paris Saint-Germain’s 29-year-old defender, stopped by the mixed zone after the 3-0 victory over Reims (video highlights PSG/Reims) this Saturday at the Stade de France in the Coupe de France 2024-2025 final.
Hernandez: “We’re going to savor this victory.3
Are you enjoying yourself tonight, or are you thinking about the other final ?
Today, we’re going to savor this victory because it’s another trophy in the window. And from Tuesday onwards, we’ll be thinking 100% about Saturday’s match.
Hernandez “What we do on the field, we make it easy, but it’s not easy at all.”
Could you have had your mind elsewhere ?
No. With this team, we take every game seriously, every match is important. Today was a final, so it’s even more important. You could see that right from the start. The team dominated every aspect of the game. We’ve prepared well for the other final, which is coming up next Saturday (smiles).
Was it almost easy ?
No, it wasn’t easy. It’s true that with the way we play and the way we press, the press might think it’s easy. But it’s not easy at all. There’s a lot of work behind it. There are a lot of sacrifices. What we do on the pitch, we make easy, but it’s not easy at all.
Hernandez “It’s a special week, but we can’t change what we’ve done.”
You’ve already won the LDC, so what’s your role in preparing for the final against Milan ?
Against Milan? Inter! (laughs). It’s a special week, but we can’t change what we’ve done so far. It’s a Champions League final, but it’s a match like any other, so we have to prepare as we do for the others.
Hernandez “We’ve got them all so far this season, there’s still the last one.”
How can you avoid trivializing titles at PSG ?
Because we’re professional players, we always want to be champions, we want to win, we want trophies. We’ve got them all so far this season, but there’s still the last one, and of course we’re going to give it our all.
What aspects does your coach insist on ?
We’ve prepared well for this final, we’ve had a week to do it. We’ve got another week for the other final.
A word about your return to Les Bleus ?
Very happy, very proud. It’s always a source of pride to wear the Bleus jersey. It hasn’t been an easy season for me, but I’m finishing on a high.
