Gianluigi Donnarumma, the 26-year-old goalkeeper who arrived at Paris Saint-Germain in 2021 with a contract running until 2026 (following the end of his own at AC Milan), is regularly called into question by fans and observers alike. An extension is currently under discussion, but is still uncertain, despite the Italian’s stated desire. This was reiterated by his agent Enzo Raiola to Tuttosport on Thursday.
“For the extension, we postponed everything.”
“We have good relations with the club, Gigio is very happy in Paris!
The rumours about Inter?
Gigio is happy at PSG. As for the extension, we’ve postponed everything, perhaps even out of superstition, given the number of matches. We’re in no hurry!
In the event of no agreement?
It’s clear that if we don’t reach an agreement, we’ll look at other options.”
The priority is still to stay with PSG. But there are more important things right now than contractual discussions. All our focus is on Saturday’s Champions League final against Inter Milan. We can envisage discussions taking place after that.
Without rushing, because there’s still time. But not too long either. The club and Donnarumma need to be clear about the future. We’d be surprised if an extension wasn’t possible, since that seems to be the outcome all parties want.
But beware, soccer sometimes moves very fast, and blockages can occur. Especially as other clubs are no doubt on the lookout.
