Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi spoke to Sky Italia after the defeat to Paris Saint-Germain. Proud of his players despite the pain of elimination, he acknowledges PSG’s superiority and discusses his uncertain future on the Inter bench.

“I’m proud of these boys for what they’ve achieved in this C1. It’s a defeat that hurts, but it doesn’t erase what we did. PSG were stronger, they were better, but we didn’t approach the match in the right way.
We end the year with zero titles, but well done all the same, and I said so in the dressing room (…) My last time on the Inter bench? We’ll see in the next few days. There’s too much disappointment and bitterness right now. There’s time to talk it over calmly with my managers.”
Elimination from the Champions League by Paris Saint-Germain has left a bitter taste in the mouths of Simone Inzaghi and Inter Milan. Despite the disappointment, the Italian coach is keen to praise his players’ commitment, reminding them that this defeat must not be allowed to erase their achievements. Inzaghi admits, however, that his team took a poor start to the game, underlining PSG’s superiority on the night.
There’s no reason to regret PSG’s superiority in annihilating the Italians’ game. Exhausted on the pitch, Simone Inzaghi’s men will have to come to terms with this slap in the face at one of the most important moments of the season. This in no way detracts from their tremendous run, but to beat this historic PSG, a more ready team was needed, and Inter Milan were too quickly overwhelmed.
