The 2025 summer mercato is now open in France until 8pm on September 1, so the rumors surrounding Paris Saint-Germain are piling up. This time, PSG Inside Actus reports an interest in Igor Jesus, Botafogo’s 24-year-old striker (contract runs until 2027).
“Lastly, tonight’s match against Botafogo is of particular importance to Parisian scouts beyond the Club World Cup. It will be an opportunity to take a closer look at Igor Jesus, the Brazilian who is attracting the interest of several European clubs. PSG is keeping a close eye on his development, with a view to strengthening its attack with promising, technical profiles.
Igor Jesus was the scorer in Botafogo’s 0-1 victory over PSG on Matchday 2 of the Club World Cup group stage, but the media can’t be blamed for trying to take advantage of this, since its information was published before the match.
However, this does not mean that PSG’s interest is concrete. Interest is credible, and the media always have several leads. But there’s nothing to say that Paris is particularly keen to move forward. Nor that it would lead to anything, when the Brazilian and his club may have other ideas.
So we’ll have to wait and see whether or not there’s a follow-up. This is often the case at the mercato.
