Former France and Bayern Munich left-back Bixente Lizarazu was asked by Téléfoot to comment on Ousmane Dembélé’s excellent start to the season. The 27-year-old Paris Saint-Germain and Les Bleus winger has scored more goals than usual.
Bixente Lizarazu: “We can see his progress”.
“He’ll always have room for improvement in terms of efficiency in front of goal. But when he’s at the back of the defender, as he is now, it’s very complicated. If you don’t see him, his acceleration is terrible. And where he excels is on the dribble. It’s good that this season he’s a little better at finishing, we can see his progress.”
With almost as many goals this season as all of last (4 goals in the 2024-2025 campaign compared to 6 goals in 23/24) and 3 assists in just 6 games, Ousmane Dembélé could be in for a great season if he keeps up the momentum.
It’s bound to feel good, especially as PSG have seen their biggest goalscorer of recent years leave (Kylian Mbappé) and the squad’s real “number 9” (Gonçalo Ramos) was injured on Matchday 1.
Let’s hope Dembélé can stay away from physical problems. He’s been far less prone to them since arriving at PSG last summer from FC Barcelona. This would be a good opportunity to confirm that he has reached a new level.
