This Tuesday, L’Equipe newspaper focused on 3 Paris Saint-Germain Titis. One of them is Ibrahim Mbaye, a 16-year-old striker who arrived in 2018 and has yet to sign his first professional contract. Zoumana Camara, former PSG U19 coach now without a club, was invited by the sports daily to give his thoughts on his place in Paris.
Camara “We’ll have to see how we manage his playing time”.
“He has enormous potential. In terms of volume, explosiveness and percussion, he can already contribute to this group. In a possession team like Paris, it’s a little easier for an attacking player. He can come in and make a difference when the match is more open and take advantage of the space.
He’s already mature enough for senior soccer. We’ll have to see how to manage his playing time, because at that age, you need continuity. There are competent people to manage that.”
Mbaye will no doubt appreciate these words from his former coach, with a great deal of confidence. It has to be said that the young striker impressed with his first opportunities. And he’ll no doubt get more.
But you have to be patient, as competition and expectations are very high at PSG, as they are at all the big clubs. The good news is that there’s also a great calendar and a project designed to make room for youngsters.
It’s up to Titi Parisien to continue to fight, listen and be patient. With, we hope, a professional contract in the near future and a great story to write at PSG.
