Marco Asensio, Paris Saint-Germain’s 29-year-old midfielder/attacker under contract until 2026, failed to fully establish himself with coach Luis Enrique. So he was loaned out to Aston Villa for the second half of the 2024-2025 season, but was not retained by the English club. After his return, we’re waiting to find out what his future holds. Several media outlets and journalists are claiming this Friday that a move to Fenerbahçe is all but settled.
The Athletic :
“Confirmation: An agreement between PSG and Fenerbahçe has been reached!
Negotiations are progressing between Marco Asensio and Fenerbahçe!
The player believes that a move to the Turkish club, which will compete in the Champions League next season, would give him the best chance of returning to the Spanish national team.
Aston Villa had considered signing Asensio permanently, but were unable to agree terms.

It’s not official yet, so there’s still some caution to be exercised as the mercato can change very quickly. But with so many media outlets agreeing in such a short space of time, there’s every reason to believe that this transfer is indeed well advanced.
All the more so as it makes sense, as Turkish clubs have already revived several big players who are in a bit of difficulty. Asensio could be a great addition to Fenerbahçe’s squad, and it remains an interesting way out for him at a time when the European top flight seems out of reach.
For PSG, a price of around €15 million also makes sense. However, we’ll have to wait for confirmation from a club or the player.
