On October 1st, Paris Saint-Germain will face FC Barcelona in the second matchday of the 2025-2026 UEFA Champions League group stage. This match was originally scheduled to take place at the Camp Nou, after extensive renovations. However, Barça’s historic stadium will not be ready in time. The Spanish club officially announced on Friday that the match will be played at the Montjuïc Stadium (also known as the Lluís-Companys Stadium).
“FC Barcelona announces that its second group stage match in the UEFA Champions League, scheduled for Wednesday, October 1st at 9:00 PM against Paris Saint-Germain, will take place at the Lluís-Companys Olympic Stadium.
The club continues its efforts to obtain the necessary administrative permits for the reopening of the Spotify Camp Nou in the coming months.”
This is a disappointment, particularly for Barça fans, but also likely for the players. They love playing in these big European matches and appreciate having the best possible atmosphere. It’s a shame, but it will still be a great match.
At least, the Parisians will have the positive memory of their victory in the second leg of the 2023-2024 Champions League quarter-finals. Let’s hope they can celebrate another victory at the final whistle.
