This Thursday, the Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid women’s teams faced off at the PSG Campus for Matchday 2 of the 2025-2026 Women’s Champions League. After the 1-2 defeat coach Paulo César spoke to La Chaîne L’Equipe.
Paulo César: “Worried, no. But I’m disappointed.”
Are you worried?
I’m disappointed with the result in the end. Worried, no. But I’m disappointed. I think the players were good in terms of solidarity and spirit. Especially in the second half. We pushed hard, we tried. We missed the final pass today. We still managed to score.
In the first half, we conceded two goals with a slight lapse in concentration. But I’m staying positive. Two games ago, of course, we didn’t want to start like that. But it happens, that’s the reality today. There are four Champions League matches left. First, we’ll face Strasbourg, and then there’s the break to reflect, continue working, and improve.
I think the positive thing is the players’ solidarity. They were together from start to finish, they ran, they gave it their all. I’m convinced we’ll rebuild this team in a more positive way. The players will respond, and the outcome will be positive for us.
Paulo César: “I’m sure they’ll produce positive results soon.”
A lack of efficiency?
It’s part of the game. Even if we work, we have this area for improvement. It’s part of the game. I’m sure the players, when they came out on the pitch, didn’t think about missing out. I’m with my players; I’m sure they’ll produce positive results soon.
