This Thursday, the Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid women’s teams faced off at the PSG Campus for Matchday 2 of the 2025-2026 Women’s Champions League. After the 1-2 defeat, Paris captain Sakina Karchaoui (29-year-old full-back/midfielder) spoke to La Chaîne L’Equipe.
Karchaoui: “We’re continuing like this, and it’s going to pay off at some point.”
How did we feel after this match?
We conceded those goals even though we were compact in the middle, and it’s true that we conceded two crosses. But I think we corrected that in the second half. I think we were united. We worked together, we attacked and defended together. It’s true that we didn’t create many chances. But we’re building up a crescendo, and that’s our goal, along with the coach and the team.
Is it frustrating to have this scenario repeat itself?
Yes, of course, when you play at this level, you want to win. But, as we said, we’re a team in reconstruction. We take it game by game and we’ll bounce back.
Is it possible to bounce back in this Champions League?
Of course, in football, nothing is impossible. We remain hopeful. We continue to work together. We’re building a great sense of unity, despite the results. Let’s keep going like this, and it will pay off at some point.
