On Wednesday, the women’s teams of Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United faced off at Old Trafford in Matchday 3 of the 2025-2026 Women’s Champions League. After the 2-1 defeat, midfielder Jackie Groenen (30 years old) spoke to PSG TV.
A positive takeaway despite everything?
“It’s hard to talk about this right now. It’s very clear, we’re very disappointed with tonight’s result. But there are still three matches left and we have no choice, we have to give it our all, we have to get the points. And I hope the fans can help us. We need that.”
Of course, it’s difficult to remain confident for a PSG side that has lost its first three matches. But, even though there are only six matchdays left in this Women’s Champions League, there’s still hope of qualifying. The Paris Saint-Germain women showed some promising signs in their play against Real Madrid (1-2) and yesterday. And that was against some very strong opponents.
They’ll need a bit more clinical finishing, and perhaps a bit of luck. In any case, giving up is out of the question. Qualification is still possible; they must fight and keep working hard to turn those crucial “details” of top-level football to their advantage.
