Julian Alvarez, the 25-year-old Argentinian striker for Atletico Madrid (under contract until 2030), was linked with Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2024 when he left Manchester City. But the idea of a move to Paris has recently resurfaced. Journalist Sacha Tavolieri told Sky Sport on Monday that there is mutual interest, but also a price tag deemed too high.
“The player has opened the door to a move to Paris.”
“PSG’s management has been exploring the possibility of a transfer to bolster their attack for several weeks, and Alvarez himself would welcome a move to play under the Spanish coach.”
Although several English clubs, as well as FC Barcelona, have expressed interest, Alvarez no longer considers a return to the Premier League, where he believes he has already given his all. The player has opened the door to a move to Paris, provided the clubs reach an agreement.
That said, a major obstacle remains: Atlético’s demands, deemed excessive, with the club asking for up to €120 million to release their striker, an amount considered exorbitant so far.”
These claims are relatively credible, as Alvarez does indeed have a profile that could tempt PSG. Capable of being decisive, contributing to the play, and always ready to put in the defensive work, the versatile Argentinian seems a perfect fit for the current project. It was, in fact, a disappointment when he chose Atlético.
Perhaps he might also be tempted by this impressive team, which has a tendency to create numerous chances. However, we must remain cautious. There is nothing concrete at the moment. And the price mentioned is enough to create a stumbling block. It’s not official; negotiations may be possible. Or they may be completely off the table.
So let’s remain patient; the transfer window remains very uncertain, both for this winter and next summer. That’s understandable, it’s still a long way off.
