Paris Saint-Germain secured a 3-0 victory against Le Havre this Saturday at the Parc des Princes in Matchday 13 of the 2025-2026 Ligue 1 season. Following the match, PSG coach Luis Enrique spoke at a press conference.
Enrique: “It’s difficult to play at a club like PSG.”
Is this a benchmark match for Lucas Chevalier?
“Every match is different; you have to watch each match to assess a player’s performance. We have peace of mind. I have no doubts about Lucas, just as I have no doubts about Zabarnyi and Renato Martin. We know it’s difficult to play at a club like PSG. There’s always noise, and you have to get used to it. But I repeat, I have a lot of confidence in Lucas.”
Were you surprised by Nuno Mendes’ early return?
“It’s always good news when we get a player back. Nuno played the full 90 minutes, he feels good, he’s ready for the next match against Tottenham.”
How do you explain João Neves’s accuracy in front of goal?
“Who is João Neves? Is he the little guy who always scores? It’s impressive, you can see he has a lot of quality. He’s been criticized, but it’s normal to be criticized. It’s great to see his development and we’re happy to see that he has this ability to score goals.”
Enrique: “It’s tough to play these matches after an international break.”
How do you rate Le Havre’s performance in this match?
“Le Havre deserved more, they played well, they had chances. It’s tough to play these matches after an international break. You have to manage the players’ playing time individually.” Le Havre managed the ball well and deserved more.
Was it important for you to regain first place?
“Of course, as always, it’s important. There are teams, like Marseille and Lens, that have done a very good job, and it’s important to win, to stay in first place. Before the Christmas period, there will be important matches in all competitions, including the Intercontinental Cup, and it’s important to start this run with a victory.”
Enrique: “It’s not easy to give each player a lot of playing time.”
How do you assess Lucas Beraldo’s performance?
“It’s normal for a player to have ups and downs during a season. We know the quality of our players, I’m not worried, it’s about managing that. It’s not easy to give each player a lot of playing time.
You have to understand that to win, we need all the players.” It’s normal to have these off days during a season. Beraldo, Gonçalo (Ramos), Mbaye, Mayulu… Everyone can improve. It’s a very long season, it’s difficult to play well in every match.
Enrique: “It’s important for me and for the club to give confidence to the academy players.”
You’ve once again given a lot of playing time to the Parisian youth players, why?
“What’s important for these players is that they get significant, valuable playing time. If they come on when you’re winning 4-0, it doesn’t add anything. I’m very motivated to give minutes to the academy players who have the ability. I don’t give anything away. Ndjantou deserved to play, Mbaye is going through a difficult period, he’s lacking a bit of confidence, but I remain calm and confident.”
It’s important for me and for the club to give confidence to the academy players. The players we consider to have the ability will gain confidence, and that’s why we don’t sign players from outside the academy. It’s easier for a homegrown French player to play at PSG than to spend a lot of money on a player coming from another club.
