Here’s our series. The 5 best reasons to watch a match (with some adjustments here and there). We’ll be highlighting the most appealing aspects before each match with a mix of seriousness and humor. Please note, this isn’t meant to be an exhaustive overview. We continue here with the Paris Saint-Germain match this Wednesday against Flamengo at the Ahmad-ben-Ali Al Rayyan Stadium in Doha, Qatar, for the 2025 Intercontinental Cup final (kick-off at 6 PM, CET).

5 – Flamengo, a strong and unusual opponent.

Unsurprisingly, PSG doesn’t often get the chance to face Flamengo. Even at the Club World Cup last summer, Paris didn’t have to play the Brazilian club. So this is a unique opportunity. It will be a great discovery, with qualities that shouldn’t be underestimated. Our preview of this opponent will be available in the coming hours.

4 – Free-to-air broadcast.

With football becoming increasingly difficult to follow, requiring multiple subscriptions, it’s nice to have a more accessible match. M6 holds the rights, so all you need is a digital terrestrial television (TNT) or internet access. Unfortunately, the match has been scheduled for a Wednesday at 6 p.m. (French time). This adds a bit of difficulty for some.

3 – Lucas Chevalier or Matvey Safonov?

A debate has been brewing in recent hours: which goalkeeper will start this match? Is Lucas Chevalier (24 years old) guaranteed to start again? Could Matvey Safonov (26 years old) continue playing and have a say in the rest of the season? There won’t be a clear answer for the rest of the season, whatever happens, but we know it’s a point that will be closely scrutinized.

2 – Désiré Doué and Ousmane Dembélé finally reunited?

In the first half of the season, marked by injuries to both players—almost simultaneously, in fact—Désiré Doué (20-year-old midfielder/forward) and Ousmane Dembélé (28-year-old forward) have barely played together. This time might be the opportunity. As starters? That would be a bit of a surprise. But seeing these two special talents back in action would be excellent, even if only for a short period.

1 – A 6th title to win this year.

After the Trophée des Champions, Ligue 1, the Coupe de France, the Champions League, and the UEFA Super Cup, PSG has the opportunity to win its 6th trophy of 2025. A very nice way to (almost, there’s still the Coupe de France round of 32 match on Saturday against Vendée Fontenay) end an already historic year. Let’s hope that Paris will be able to approach this new challenge well, especially since such a final is inevitable because you have to win the Champions League in order to play in it.
