Paris Saint-Germain faced Flamengo on Wednesday (1–1, 3–1 on penalties) in the final of the Intercontinental Cup. After the match, 25-year-old midfielder Vitinha spoke to PSG TV following the victory.

Vitinha: “It feels like a job well done.”

“It’s an incredible feeling. It was a very important final and we won it. It was difficult, we really had to dig deep, and now we’re very happy. It feels like a job well done, with a lot of hard work and a bit of luck too — you need that. And a huge performance from Safonov as well, incredible!

On the supporters:
They’re always there. Even here in Qatar, they showed up and helped us. We were able to choose their side for the penalty shootout, and that’s important. Thankfully, everything came together for us to win.”

A historic performance for PSG, who become the first club to win this Intercontinental Cup. A record-breaking year that definitively places the capital club at the top of French, European, and world football. Even though the match was decided at the very end, it remains a historic moment.

Matvei Safonov, the 26-year-old Paris goalkeeper, was also outstanding, saving four penalties. A match the supporters will remember for a long time, and one that caps off a 2025 season beyond all expectations for the Rouge et Bleu faithful.
