On Sunday at the Stade Vélodrome, Paris Saint-Germain beat Olympique de Marseille 0-3 on Matchday 9 of Ligue 1 2024-2025 (OM/PSG video higlights). We then asked our readers, as they do after every match from now on, to vote for the best Parisian of the match. João Neves (20-year-old midfielder) came out on top.
A victory that was far from illogical, given that Neves was the boss in midfield and made his mark with his first PSG goal. In the Classico, it’s bound to be special.
However, he had a strong competitor in Willian Pacho (a 23-year-old defender) and you’d think he’d be a little closer in the voting, as he kept Elye Wahi at bay and was clean through the restart.
Bradley Barcola and Ousmane Dembélé (forwards, aged 22 and 27) were close to completing the podium, which is also a little surprising. The former scored, but also missed a lot of dribbles and some great chances. The latter, on the other hand, was the orchestrator of Parisian chances, even if he could always do better at finishing. He did, however, provide a fine assist for his team-mate.
We would like to thank you for your votes, which will now be organized after each official match. We would also like to point out that the podiums from the player of the match elections will be used to elect the player of the month.
