Vitinha, the 25-year-old Paris Saint-Germain midfielder, spoke to Canal+ at the post-match press conference following the 1-1 draw against Newcastle on Wednesday at the Parc des Princes in Matchday 8 of the 2025-2026 Champions League. He addressed the relegation playoff spot after the frustrating draw.
Vitinha: “I’m happy with what the team produced.”
Paris not in the top 8, how are you taking that?
Good evening, it’s difficult because we did more than necessary to win the match and finish in the top half. That was our objective, we did everything we could for that. Unfortunately, once again in a match we controlled, we had too many chances and we couldn’t win. Now, we’ll see who we’re up against.
Are you satisfied with what the team produced?
Yes, I’m happy with what the team produced; we have to be objective about it. Of course, the result isn’t what we wanted. We wanted the win, nothing but wins. We have to look at the performance; we played another great match against a very physical team. We created many opportunities to win the match and score, but we weren’t able to do so.
