This Sunday, the women’s teams of Paris Saint-Germain and OL Lyon faced off at the Parc des Princes for Matchday 14 of the 2025-2026 Première Ligue Arkéma. After the 1-0 defeat, midfielder/fullback and captain Sakina Karchaoui (30 years old) spoke to PSG TV.
Karchaoui: “Little by little, our work is paying off.”
“We could have played our counter-attacks better. Against a good team, we played a solid match, with a lot of fighting spirit. Little by little, our work is paying off. There’s a defeat in the end, but I’m proud and we’ll focus on the positives. With what we’ve produced and the solidarity we have in the group, we can still achieve great things this season.”
PSG can obviously improve in certain areas and hoped for a win, but it’s important to remember what was done well against the league leaders. The Parisian women put up a much stronger fight this time, compared to their 6-1 defeat in the first leg. It’s encouraging to see progress despite a somewhat unusual season (including the nine points deducted administratively).
This group is determined and can still have a say until the very end. However, they will need to find a way to be more effective. Furthermore, PSG must bring stability to its management of the women’s team and work to ensure that the squad stops being emptied without adequate replacements. The summer will be crucial for the Parisian project.
