This Tuesday evening, Paris Saint-Germain travels to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea (kick-off at 9 pm, CET) for the second leg of their Champions League Round of 16 tie (PSG won the first leg 5-2). According to L’Equipe, the Blues are expected to be without Wesley Fofana (the 25-year-old defender).
“Liam Rosenior could therefore put his faith in Jorrel Hato.”
“Wesley Fofana has been experiencing muscle pain in recent days and is not expected to start this Tuesday. Liam Rosenior could therefore rely on Jorrel Hato.
Meanwhile, Malo Gusto was feeling better Tuesday morning after being ill (flu-like symptoms). The Frenchman is expected to be tested later today. Should he also end up on the bench, Mamadou Sarr is tipped to replace him.”
Following yesterday’s announcement of Reece James’ withdrawal (the 26-year-old midfielder/full-back and captain), this could be another blow for Chelsea, who already have a very difficult task ahead of them. Fofana is a key player in the defense and could be sorely missed in containing PSG’s attacks, as the Parisians are not planning on simply defending.
At least Malo Gusto (the 22-year-old right-back) could finally start after concerns about the flu. However, this is not yet certain; the official decision could be made after the team lineups are announced about an hour before kickoff. We will also be paying close attention to the squad Chelsea might announce later today.
