This Wednesday, Paris Saint-Germain (Ligue 1 leaders) face Chelsea (Premier League fith) at the Parc des Princes in the first leg of their 2025-2026 Champions League Round of 16 tie (second leg on March 17). Kick-off is at 9 pm, CET. This Sunday, Le Parisien confirmed the hoped-for return of João Neves (21-year-old midfielder).
“According to the latest news, the international player is feeling better. This improvement will need to be confirmed this Monday in training, after the rest day granted to the European champions’ squad on Sunday. Is it enough to be in the squad? It seems likely. Is it enough to play? Doubts remain, and his situation is compounded by other unknowns.”
Neves was able to train with the squad over the weekend but was unable to participate in PSG’s match against Monaco on Friday. Therefore, it is far from certain that he will start. But his inclusion in the squad seems highly likely, given he’s had extra time to prepare. It remains to be seen how much playing time he’ll get, especially since the Portuguese player has been on the edge several times this season.
