Luis Enrique, coach of Paris Saint-Germain (1st), held a press conference this Friday ahead of facing Lorient (9th) at the Parc des Princes tomorrow (kick-off at 5pm, CET) as part of the 32nd matchday of Ligue 1 2025-2026. Alongside this event, the Spaniard also spoke to PSG TV.
Luis Enrique: “What a level from both teams, especially the attackers.”
How are you feeling a few days after this Champions League match?
“There are a lot of emotions for everyone. Tomorrow we start again because the league is still ongoing and the three points are very important.”
What do you take away from the match against Bayern Munich?
“In a match of this level, there is always a lot of pressure. But when you play against this type of opponent, it’s even more difficult. After the match, I was able to assess and analyze it. There are moments when we need to shut things down and… what a level from both teams, especially the attackers. Many times people think the defenses are catastrophic, but we are two of the best defenses along with Arsenal. This match was simply incredible for both teams. That’s why everyone is talking about it. When you have that level in attack, it’s very difficult. Hats off to both teams.”
Luis Enrique: “We have to win the three points by fielding the best possible team.”
What kind of mental qualities must a coach have for this type of match?
“People might think that in this kind of moment you need to be excited. But if you are, you’re dead. You have to be precise and use your head. This match was incredible for the atmosphere in the stadium and the pace of the play. But in this kind of moment, you need control. Sometimes it’s impossible to have it, and that’s why the supporters, journalists, players—everyone was exhausted at the end of the match.”
You need to secure the three points tomorrow while also preserving players physically and mentally?
“It’s like a game of Tetris. You have to manage each case individually, while knowing that you need to win the three points by fielding the best possible team.”
